Ayaka is a ceremonial grade matcha from Uji, Kyoto, produced by a 13th generation tea maker with over 400 years of craftsmanship. Only the finest spring leaves are hand picked, shaded, and slowly stone ground into a silky powder. It takes more than an hour to fill a single tin.
Once reserved for shoguns and samurai, Ayaka is now available for those who value true quality. The matcha has a vibrant green color, a rich umami taste, and subtle notes of walnut, citrus, and apricot.
This matcha is imported by Matchaaa, a Dutch importer known for their early and dedicated focus on high quality Japanese matcha. In early 2025, Matchaaa and SØSOUL collaborated through a series of weekend pop ups at our space. The quality spoke for itself, which is why this matcha has remained part of our permanent selection.
Ideal for a traditional matcha preparation or a smooth, creamy matcha latte.
